Weekly goals…

I’ve been reading the book Smart Discipline and decided to try to partially incorporate it into our life to see if I can get some improvement on the behaviors that are driving me bonkers. Here are their charts:

The kiddos get to put a sticker in the box for every day that they are successful (by my standards, but we’ll discuss it every evening). I’m going to hang up ten one dollar bills over their chart and if, at the end of the week, all boxes are full, they get all ten. For every empty box, they lose a dollar, which they have to give me at the time we decide they don’t deserve the sticker. I’m hoping that the immediate consequences will help drive this stuff home. We’ll see.I also decided since they have three goals, I should, too. So, mine are:

  • Get Quicken loaded and up to date on my office computer.
  • Start walking daily.
  • Cook dinner at least 4 nights this week

Okay, gotta get moving and get to work. I’ll try to report back on our progress later this week.

Have a great day!

One down, two to go

So the 1200 word paper is done, no thanks to my school laptop, which was in the shop for 3 months and still is not fixed.  I don’t have MS Office on the Mac, so I had to download Open Office, which is okay, but won’t do some of the formatting I need for a formal paper…ugh.

Just took a quick break, now have 4 chapters to read and a 600 word paper to write.  I’m saving the presentation for last.  I figure I’ll only need 50 out of a possible 110 points so at worst, I’ll do research, put some notes on index cards and get up there and talk.  Surely that’ll at least get me 50 points.  We’ll see.  Back to work now!

You can’t go wrong with the Princess!

April 5th, 2007 by admin

Well, the lift with a twist this week is the fabulous Darla Vasquez and the designer is Shabby Princess.  I found an older photo of Bailey to scrap and was looking to match the color of her dress with a kit when I remembered that I should use SP’s stuff for it and found Festival, that I hadn’t used, yet.  Funny thing is, the colors are nowhere close to the dress, but it turned out great anyway.  Just goes to show that you can’t go wrong with the Princess!  Here’s a peek at the layout:

The font I used is CK Marissa, a new fave of mine, that I picked up at the Scrap ‘n Fonts Dollar Sale.

Get this, it was 80 degrees here day before yesterday and this morning, there’s frost!  Crazy weather!  Well, I need to get moving, it’s school day for the kiddos and work day for me.  Have a great day!

Oh my gosh

April 4th, 2007 by admin

We’ve had a nasty tummy bug floating around our house since last Thursday night (well, Friday AM about 3 to be exact).  First Bailey, then Casey, then me, then DH.  I got it in the wee hours of the morning following the great dinner in the last post.  What a rip!  My three fellow diners all had a few beers, but not me…but who gets sick?

So, I missed school Monday night and now have a 1200 word paper and a ten minute research presentation due on Monday.  We have a birthday party on Saturday and Sunday is Easter.  I can’t do stuff like this when the kids are awake.  So where does that leave me?  Busy, for sure.  The worst part is that the research presentation is only worth 110 points!  I think even if I only got about 30 of them I’d get an A in the class…but I don’t do things halfway so I’ll put everything into it and spend a couple of nights on it.  So, if I’m quiet or you don’t see me on messenger or the boards, that’s why…trying to get these assignments wrapped up before the weekend.

I’m off to get ready to start our day, just thought I’d pop in and say Good Morning…so, Good Morning!
