Wow, it’s gorgeous here today!  About 65 degrees and sunny.  You just can’t not be happy on a day like this.

We worked this morning, now we’re home for naptime.  After about 4 days without a nap, Casey get’s pretty tough to take so I’m glad we got to have one today.  I’m on the new iMac (yay), at my relatively clean desk in my relatively clean family room (I left it for last on the cleaning list this past weekend and it got mostly cleaned, but still needs dusting and vacuuming) and enjoying the day.  I finished up another class last night, with a final and a project which I bombed.  Well, it was a big, difficult project…a Hangman Game.  Don’t laugh, yes, I know it sounds simple enough.  But let me tell you, it isn’t!  He originally gave me a zero on it, but when we looked at it together and I explained what I had done, he said he’d try to give me partial credit.  Here’s the thing.  Throughout the course, my classmates and I have worked together on this stuff, often finding a program on the web that was similar and altering it to fit our particular assignment.  Well, the ones that were found for this one were completely different than the way the instructor had us start it in class, so I just kept trudging through and tried to do it on my own.  Now, I could easily have used someone else’s completed project, changed a few minor details and called it my own…but I didn’t because I really wanted to learn it, to get myself through it.  When I pointed that out to the instructor, he said that he had recognized that and would definitely take it into consideration.  I think everyone had trouble with the final, too, so much so that he said he’d try to work a way to only use part of the exam and in some way use the parts that we each individually did well on.  Well, I think I might have been the only person to get all three of the programs done, so I hope that he considers that when trying to figure out how to grade that project.  So far I have maintained a 4.0 through this program and we are now officially halfway through.  He actually knew that, too, so I just hope that he considers the whole package and doesn’t let that one program cost me an A.  We’ll see.  So, next is Ethics, Technology and Society.  Sound fun?  Let’s see, at least one 600 word paper each week, some weeks there are two.  Multiple chapters to read as well…um, maybe we could just go back to programming?

Okay, well, speaking of that reading, I should be doing that now while the house is quiet.  Stay tuned for that big announcement, it’s coming soon!

I’m sitting here at my lovely new iMac!  So far, so good, but still haven’t really worked with any HUGE files in Photoshop.  Maybe later today I’ll have a chance to do that, because I really need to rework my previews for their new home…what?  Oh, you don’t know about their new home?  Well, stay tuned, I really don’t want to announce it until I have a firm Grand Opening date and with all the things I have going on, I am not quite ready for that.  But it will be soon and it is such a great place I can’t wait to tell you all!

So, still working on the house, you know how you have to tear it apart to put it all back together?  LOL, well, I’m still kind of at the tear it apart stage.  I got alot done last night, but there’s alot more left to do and I have a project and final in Programming tomorrow so I don’t know if those previews are going to get much attention or not.  I also have to finish up the stores I’m working on to help cover this investment!  Busy, busy, busy!

My kiddos are going to their Granny’s and I am doing some major cleaning and organizing!  I can’t wait, I think the clutter really brings me down and I know I’m going to feel much better overall when I get this done.  I plan to clean and organize what I can today, making a list of the things I need to help me get it done, then go shopping for those things this evening and finish up in the morning.  I can’t wait ’til it’s done!

The only good news on the computer front is now that I’ve taken the RAM out of this thing like they told me to, it’s unbearably slow, which will be a deterrent to me sitting in front of it all weekend.  I do want to work on a new preview style to help get ready for my designs going back up soon, but I know I can’t do it on this machine as-is so I will be concentrating on the house and my homework.  I have a big project due and a final in my Programming II class on Monday so I definitely need to allot some time for working on that stuff.

Just seem to have a little time this morning so thought I’d say Hi.  I am really looking forward to the weekend because my kiddos are going to Granny’s and I’m going to turn this house upside-down.  I truly used to be one of the most organized people you’d ever meet and in the last few years, I’ve forgotten about it.  In trying to get my life back in order, I find that being in a clean house makes me feel so much better than being in a cluttered one.  A well organized one is much easier to keep clean so I’m going to spend the weekend with the ZenHabits blog I mentioned in my last post and a new book, The Organized Life, both of which have alot of great tips on making your house “user friendly”.

Still trying to decide what to do about the computer, I hate that I have saved all the kits I’ve gotten lately to my Mac formatted hard drive because if I have to do without them, even for a couple of months while I save for the iMac I want, I won’t be able to scrap.  I am thinking I’ll figure out how to network this thing to the PC that I have all of my older kits on and just move them over there over the weekend and wait until Monday to take this machine back.  I have been very busy with cart jobs, so I’m probably halfway to the iMac, counting the refund I’ll get for the mini, but I can’t be sure that the cart jobs will keep coming so I’m planning to be without it for at least a couple of months, during which time I’ll probably be designing on my laptop.

Okay, that’s all I have for today.  I need to go watch the “Safe Side” video with my kiddos.  We got it at the library and it’s due back today and we haven’t even watched it, yet!

Still having trouble with the Mac Mini. I’ve decided to take it back and just take the 20% hit they charge for a restocking fee. I’m just not happy with it. So, now I’m faced with the choice between revving up my old one, which is a PC, taking the cash I get back from returning the Mini and adding a little and getting a new PC or saving for a few months to get a good, at least medium of the line iMac that will do the job I need it to and using my laptop for everything ’til I have that money. Tough call, huh?

Okay, kiddos are in the tub, have a few more things to share, maybe tomorrow. Oh and some HUGE HUGE HUGE news, but you have to wait for that, too!

that when you put together a bunch of women on a board, it becomes cliquey?  Why can’t there just be a place where everyone can feel like they belong without stupid freaking popularity contest crap?  I go to this place because I want some conversation, but I end up feeling invisible so really all I do is watch other people’s conversations and don’t really participate.  Well, I try, but it’s like I’m not there, so why bother?  I just wish I could find a nice place where I could feel like I fit, like it mattered if I was there and like, oh, forget it.

I scrapped!  Two pages!  The first photo was taken last night, nothing special about it, really, but I just saw Bailey in the chair and she looked so perfect.  I told her not to move and snapped a few, sans flash.  This was the only one that wasn’t blurry, but that’s okay, I got one good one out of the deal.

So, last night on the way home, listening to this song, I had a thought…what if happiness isn’t some huge big elusive thing we have to find, but instead happiness is just surrounding yourself with little things that make you happy? I mean, really, isn’t it easy to just look around your life and find little things that make you smile? Here’s something that makes me smile today…I love this song. I just recently discovered it, but it’s actually a Grammy nominee…and it is just so fun, I can’t NOT tap my feet when it’s on.
