I had a whole friggin’ post composed with photos and all and my stupid connection went out as I was attempting to publish it, so what do you think happened? Yep, lost the whole thing. So, I’m going to start over and put heading over each section because I have alot to cover!
A Cherry on Top – new place to find my kits
Some of you may not know this, but when I started selling, I was at SBE. They’re nice people and I got some great exposure over there, but just needed more control over how and when I could do things so I opened my own shop. I love my shop, I really do, but I just need a bit more exposure…so, when I received an invitation to sell in the new Digital Shop at A Cherry On Top, I thought it was an offer I couldn’t resist. It is primarily a paper site now, but they are wanting to expand their community and product offerings to include digital so they’re building the new digital section of the shop now and plan to open on February 1st. They have a fantastic design team which includes two of my own DT members, Bree Clarkson and Rachael Giallongo, both of whom are phenomenal artists and I am so honored to work with them not only as members of my team, but as members of the DT at the new shop. I really think this is going to be good for me, my kits and the digital community as a whole. We had sort of a rough start, but it’s getting better and I can say for sure that now I feel more welcomed there than I do at a certain vegetable site. Well, maybe welcomed isn’t the right word…sometimes at the other site, I just feel plain invisible and that’s not a fun feeling. So, anyway, I’m looking forward to great things at A Cherry on Top…stay tuned!
Speaking of Rachael…
Funny thing, she accused me of holding out on her when she heard about my upcoming stuff for Arctic Frog. Well, I think she’s been doing a little holding out of her own. I was just leaving the paper crop on Friday night, up at the counter getting ready to pay and look what I found:
What a cool idea book! It shows fun and interesting ways to incorporate everyday ordinary office supplies into your layouts. The book is copyright 2005 so I’m not sure when it came out, but I’ve already seen some of these techniques done in both paper and digiscrapping…did you gals start these trends, Rachael? Hey, can I get your autograph
? Anyway, it was really cool to look down and see that and say "Hey, she’s on my design team!"…and since I’m new to the whole paper scrapping thing, I bet I’ll learn from some of the cool techniques in here as well.
Oh, yeah…the crop!
Okay, what fun I had! My friend, Kelley McDonald met me there and we really had a great visit. She’s been paper scrapping for over ten years, so I could definitely learn a few things from her! We both made an incredibly cute mini album and I am so proud of mine! It still has to be bound and the photos actually need to be added as well as the embellies, but I just think it’s so cute like it is, I have to show it off. I used the Junkitz Salsa Papers for it… I have photos of Bailey giving her Daddy a makeover with her plastic makeup from last year and photos of Daddy giving her a makeover this year with her real makeup, so those are what I plan to put in it. I just have to go through, crop, enlarge and print them and then finish it up. It’s going to be such a fun little album for her. Anyway, here are a few photos of what I’ve done so far…thanks, Kelley, for all the help and the great visit, too!
Okay, am I just wearing you out with all this stuff? I know, I know, I shouldn’t wait so long between entries, but it’s been crazy, lately! So, what’s next…oh, yeah, check this out:

Yep, I made it! The first designer CT call I answered (I think) and I made it! But, I didn’t make the ModScraps one…oh, well, maybe next time. Ashley has some fun stuff and her style suits me perfectly. I did this layout last night:
Okay, isn’t Baby Claire a doll? I got some fantastic shots of her at a playdate the other day and just had to scrap this one. Anyway, this is my first layout as a CTM for Ashley and I am really happy with it. I used her Trendsetter Paper Pack and Trendsetter Elements Set, both of which can be purchased at Scrapbook-Bytes. I really like these sets and I’m sure I’ll use them again.
You know, I sort of thought it was odd to see designers being CTMs for other designers, promoting the work of other designers instead of their own. In fact, until I became a CTM for Digital Memories Magazine, I’d never used anyone else’s stuff. But when I got access to the team kits over there, I really enjoyed working with some of the different stuff and it gave me a reason to scrap. I have been so darn busy with the DSD site and other stuff in my life that I haven’t been taking nearly as many photos as I should or scrapping as much as I’d like to. I’m hoping that this will inspire me to get back to what I love most about this hobby…creating beautiful art with my treasured photos…that’s what it’s really about, anyway.
Almost finished, I promise! One more thing…
My Arctic Frog collections are
off the presses and in the hands of the fantastic design team members for Arctic Frog. I have been having such a great time seeing what they’ve done with the goodies so far and I can’t wait to be able to post a few of their layouts here. I am going over to the office to grab the rest of the stuff tomorrow and I’m going to play around a bit, too. I got a few sheets off the press (literally) and brought them home, but haven’t played with them, yet. I want to get the rest of the great stuff and see what I can do with it, but no peeking until Alannah gets them up on the site. Oh, but there is a peek at one of her collections at her blog…go check it out!
Okay, I think I’ll close this entry and come back and do the meme that Alannah tagged me for…
