I also have to show off this cool desktop calendar Bree made because I love it so much!  Everything she used is included in the kit…

I just finished adding the kit to the shop and it will be available after Midnight CST I believe.  There is a downloadable version for $8.50 and a CD version for $13.50 which includes domestic shipping via USPS Priority Mail.  So, support your favorite site and get a great, HUGE kit in the process!

This is me…and I found my mojo!

November 30th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I’ve been wanting to do an AAM layout for a long time, but just couldn’t get inspired.  I picked up the September copy of Scrapbook Trends last week and they had a whole AAM section!  I finally found some inspiration on page 73 and here’s what I came up with:
Aboutme_sml_1

This is really me.  No makeup most of the time, t-shirt and PJ pants are standard attire, just plain old me :) .  Bailey took the photo and I think she did a great job.  I did all the inking with brushes from Misprinted Type and the handwriting font is Susie’s Hand by Ali Edwards.  I think it came on one of the Scrapbook Answers Resource CDs, but I’m not sure.

So, there you go…this is me, love me or leave me, for better or worse :) .  Nice to meet you.

Now, I am pleased to announce that I think I found my mojo.  Well, this layout was so easy to do that I don’t know if it really counts, but I still think it came out great.

This layout was done for my Scraplift Challenge over at DSD.  The reason it came together so quickly (like 15 minutes) is because I provided the color blocking template for the challenge and when I decided to use this for the challenge, I knew that this kit and this photo would be the perfect combination for this layout.  The font is Rockford by Typadelic Fonts, also from a Scrapbook Answers resource CD.  The kit is Hip Holidays by Kim Hill.

Since I found my mojo, I hope to put together a couple more layouts today including one with the Digiscrapdivas December Megakit…this is going to be one incredible kit.  Here’s a list of what it contains:

44 papers
2 alphabets with both upper and lower cases
1 overlay
8 chipboard coasters
4 chipboard gifts
4 snowflake brushes (PNG and ABR formats)
4 fiber strands
4 zig-zag stitchings
3 rows of rik rak
6 ribbons
3 grossgrain bows
2 wood snowflakes
silver fasteners – brad, eyelet, staple, photo prong
4 chipboard word art accents
4 chipboard tags
4 epoxy brads
3 glass brads
3 glass tags
3 embellished paperclips
3 round chipboard frames
3 square chipboard frames
1 mitten sticker
1 snowman sticker
1 snowman charm
1 charm rod
3 sets of photo corners (silver, gold, white)
4 metal-rimmed tags
1 12×12 quick page
4 photo greeting cards
2 desktop wallpapers

Okay, is that a whopper of a list or what?  Kim has a preview of it on her blog and I’ll try to do a layout with it later today.  Oh, and I’ve promised some new blinkies to the members and team over at DSD so I’ll work on them later, too.

But, now, my domestic duties are calling.  The laundry is piled pretty deep and my kiddos need to get dressed and brush their teeth…

My Funky Inner Hair Color is

November 27th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

Cool blogthing I got of Jheri’s blog:

Your Hair Should Be Orange

Expressive, deep, and one of a kind.
You pull off “weird” well – hardly anyone notices.

I got a new bra!

November 26th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I know, I know, not something you’d expect to find on a blog, LOL…but this one is so darn cute I have to show it off:
Kathy_danibra

My understanding is that these sort of started as a joke over at the Scrap Kitchen Forums, but everyone is loving them so much, Dani may make a career out of designing them!  I got one of the first, though, so I’m special!  Isn’t it adorable?

Have you seen it?

November 26th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

My mojo is gone.  I’ve looked everywhere…in my photos folders, in my huge stack of scrapping mags, under my desk…it’s gone.  I have two photos to scrap plus a great series from my babies first Poker Game (you know I HAVE to scrap that!) and I just can’t seem to do a darn thing.  Look at these:
Caseymad

Look at that face!!!  I can’t even begin to think of an angle to take with that photo, but I absolutely love it.  I went over to Kim Christensen’s previews blog and found this kit, which I think will work well…  There’s a paper pack and an element pack, too…now, I just have to get my hands on them, LOL!

I so love those colors and textures…I think I could definitely make that work, if I can find my mojo, anyway.

This one, of my little diva, is equally scrappable:
Bailey

I haven’t really looked for a kit for it, but I think I could probably make my Funky Flakes kit work…the colors of her sunglasses will go perfectly with it.  So, maybe tonight, over a hot cup of coffee with some wonderful Pumpkin Spice flavored liquid coffeemate in it, I can be reunited with my mojo and get these done.  Or maybe I can just finish up a couple of kits I need to wrap up.  I started one with the HoHo Snow Friday Freebie, but never completed it…here’s the sampler:
Kmoor_hohosnowpreview
My intentions were to create a complete kit including the "sampler" and get it in the shop.  I also want to do a full Wannabe Summer Kit…the Wannabe Summer Sampler was my scraplift freebie this week…here it is:
Sampler_preview
Aah, so much to do…so little time.  But, I just am not feeling inspired right now so I’m going to get up and go do a little housework…surely, once I start doing that, my mojo will return if only to give me a reason to NOT do housework, LOL.

Oh, and Kim, I tried to link to your kits in the SBB store, but it must still be crazy over there because I couldn’t even get to the site!  For those who don’t know, though, you can find Kim’s awesome kits in the Scrapbook-bytes store!

Design Team Call!

November 26th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

Okay, now that the redesign of DSD is complete, it’s time for me to start concentrating on designing and promoting again.  So, I am ready to add a few members to my Design Team.  Members will be required to create at least one layout with each kit they request, upload those layouts to my gallery at DSD plus one more and create a total of at least three layouts per month with my designs.  If you’re interested, e-mail me with a link to your gallery or galleries and a list of other design teams you are currently on.

Here’s a sneak peek at my contribution:
Preview

Actually, there are a couple of papers I left off the preview, too.  This kit is going to ROCK!  It has contributions from so many talented designers, it’s just an unbelievable collaboration.  I think this one is going to be big enough that it will be offered as both a download and a CD.  Stay tuned to DSD for updates…it will go on sale December 1st!

This truly is a shame…

November 25th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I went over to SP’s blog this morning to link to her post about her cute new pink Franklin and found this post: Disheartened.  This is such a shame…I am so saddened at the tone of her post.  I can just hear that she is hurt by the things being done in the digiscrap community and she is so justified in these feelings.  I don’t download everything she does, simply because I don’t have time to scrap with it and I don’t download it just to collect it.  However, I know she does beautiful work and is a very giving person.  After all, she started out doing it all for free!  Now, even with the other opportunities that have come to her through her work, she still takes the time to create free stuff to share with the community…and how does that community thank her?  By pirating her work.  Now, I know that most of us abide by the rules.  I am amazed at how many nice people I meet on a daily basis through my being part of the digiscrapping community.  But, the sad thing is, like just about everything else in this world, a few bad apples can spoil the whole bunch.

So, if you’re reading this, I’m asking you to do your part to help combat piracy.  It not only affects SP, but all of us.  If you receive an offer to download a pirated kit, at the very least decline it and at best, contact the designer so she can protect her work.  Nuff said?  Nuff said.

Altering a planner…

November 25th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I have to admit it…I read Shabby Princess’s blog entry about her new Franklin and I am so glad to know that I’m not the only techie who just can’t use a PDA.  I’ve tried, I really have.  I just need the paper lists, the book, the pages…this is one thing I just can’t do with electronics.  To date, though, I haven’t been doing anything…just winging it and if you ask my hubby, this method isn’t working.  So, I’m trying to decide what to do.  I have a perfectly good Franklin myself…it just isn’t pretty.  Well, with Christmas around the corner and a tight budget anyway, I just can’t justify buying a new one, so I really need to make this one work.  I am trying to figure out how I can alter it and make it pretty…it needs some serious help!
Planner

See what I mean?  It’s just plain ugly.  Now, I know I could probably sew a cover for it, but I don’t have the time or inclination to do that.  Besides, if I’m going to do something to it, I want it to be something scrap related.  So, how do I do it?  I don’t want to just completely ruin it, so I’m trying to think it through before I just start making a mess.  I know I could Mod-Podge some printed paper to the outside…but, will it stretch when the book is closed?  How do I keep it down at the edges?  Bias tape and fabric glue?  I don’t know…any ideas?  Please share!

Thanksgiving traditions…

November 25th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

What’s yours?  Our children are still so young that we haven’t really established any, yet.  Not for our immediate family, anyway.  So, tonight, we came home from our travels, snuggled up in our big comfy chairs and watched "A Christmas to Remember", a Bob the Builder movie.  For those of you who are Bob fans and haven’t seen this movie, it really is a good one.  Of course, I think it’s really cool because we find out that Bob has a twin brother, Tom, who lives near the North Pole.  I also love it because it has Elton John in it and he sings "Crocodile Rock" at the end…I’ve always loved that song.  Anyway, we popped some popcorn and watched a movie and it was a nice relaxing way to end a busy couple of days.  The kiddos went to bed early and my hubby was close behind, but I, feeling a bit creative, stayed up and completed my first Arctic Frog collection…well, I hope it’s completed.  I’ll find out after I hear back from them about whether they like it or not…so, cross your fingers.  I love it, but since this is my first shot, I’ll expect to have to rework it at least a little bit.  But, hey, that’s okay…at least I’ve got a good starting point.

It’s late and my creative juices are drying up, LOL…  I think I need a good night’s sleep and an easy day tomorrow.  I do have a few things to get done including adding advertising to the new Digiscrapdivas store.  But, I plan to try to spend some time with my babes tomorrow and maybe even do a little homework.  So, off to bed with me now…hope you had a great Holiday or, if you don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, then just a great day!
