The site is down…

September 30th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

Just thought I’d put a note here in case someone came over to see what’s up.  My webhost had promised to cover any bandwidth overages for us to help us with the New Beginnings Kit, but apparently there was a glitch.  I have let him know and am waiting on a response from him.  I’m so sorry for the inconvenience!

More ranch work today…

September 19th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

This is the busy time of year.  Well, usually, my husband is really busy in the summer, but the lack of rain this year cut down the hay crop so much that he only baled once.  But, now, there are all kinds of sales and he’s also starting to have some calves born.  In fact, he had one that is a real whopper in the Angus world.  He doesn’t know that I even pay attention and, I admit that I pay less than I should sometimes, but I am proud of him and so happy that he is finally having the opportunity to do what he really wants to do.

Anyway, he’s going to Missouri to pick up a cow he bought tonight so me and the babes will have feeding duty tonight.  Not hard, really, because he already handled the hay part.  We just have to fill a few feed buckets and dump them out in a few different pens.  So, we’ll be loading up in the Gator and doing some ranch work, tonight.  Oh, gosh, and I have some major catching up to do in the homework department.  Survey of Calculus…sound fun?  Yeah, well, I had a statistics test last week so I got a little behind on my Calculus homework and now have to catch up and get ready for a test on Thursday.  Needless to say, I won’t be doing much scrapping or designing before next weekend.

Oh, our 11th Wedding Anniversary was Saturday.  Man, I can’t believe it’s been eleven years!  Wow!  So we went out to dinner and then, as is customary whenever we go to dinner without the babies (which isn’t very often) we went to…WalMart!  Yes, WalMart…sad, huh?  Well, let me tell you, when you have two 4 year olds, a trip to WalMart without them is actually a real treat!  Plus, I found a new Scrap Mag, Scrapbook Answers, which came with a CD with some pretty cool fonts on it from Font Garden…actually not free fonts, either, but some that are sold in the shop.  There were a few others on there from other places, too…I probably got about 20 fonts off of the CD that I’ll use plus some cute layouts in the magazine so it was a worthwhile investment.

Okay, well, the kiddos want to go outside now, so I’m going to close with a photo of me and my hubby on our wedding day…

Oh, and on another note, I contacted a paper maker this morning via e-mail to see what the chance was of doing a paper line and she said she definitely wants to talk to me.  It’s a pretty small one right now, but close to me geographically and it seems to be growing, so we’ll see what comes of it.

Okay, off to feed the cows now…have a great night!

Coming soon…Kristen’s Invitation

September 18th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I’ve been working on this kit, today…
Commonthreads

This is Kristen.  Her first birthday party was a Strawberry Shortcake theme and I saved the invitation because I loved the colors.  I found it the other day and it reminded me of that, so I decided to get the kit made.  All I have so far are the papers…20 of them.  But, since I always try to do a layout with the papers before I go any further, I did this one and I think it turned out really cute.

So, there’s a sneak peek…I hope to finish up the kit by next weekend!

The little stamp is also included, without the text…and I am sooooo proud of that little tied ribbon.  I very rarely do those because they don’t usually look like I want them to, but that one came out really well.  So, visit the thread link above and grab this great freebie…but don’t forget to come back over and post your layout to the Scraplift Gallery.

Have fun and Happy Scrapping!

My first layout with the New Beginnings kit…

September 5th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I decided to create some solid colored papers to go in the kit because, although Suzy made some great textured backgrounds, I wanted some papers that were my style, the inked/sanded edges and or sanding/grunging overlays.  BTW, I didn’t even know I had a style, but my friend and an awesome designer, Kim Christensen, told me yesterday that I do.  Cool!  I have a style!  Anyway, Kelley is also adding a few papers that aren’t shown in the preview, so I think we’re up to like 53 papers now.  This is going to be one rockin’ kit!  Here’s my layout, done for this week’s Scraplift Challenge at DSD:

I am so loving these colors.  I don’t think I’d ever have put them together myself because I normally have at least one very neutral color in my palettes, but sand_gal put this palette together and I just love it.

Okay, I gotta get busy being the ranch wife that I am.  My hubby went to OK City for a sale at a big Angus breeder, Express Ranch, so I’m feeding today.  We’re outta here!  Have a great day and Happy Scrapping!

Here’s a better peek at the New Beginnings Kit…

September 5th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I have to go to bed, it’s so late, but I am so excited about this incredible kit that I have to show it off…please keep in mind that this isn’t anywhere near everything, but I’m still working on the previews.

No definite sale price, either, though I suspect we’ll be around the $7.50 to $8.50 range…but don’t quote me on that.  There are lots of ribbons, fasteners, an alpha and some great other little accent pieces that are not shown in this preview.  I hope to get the other preview finished up tomorrow and I’ll post it here.

Good night, everyone…sweet dreams!

Hurricane Relief Efforts at Digiscrapdivas

September 2nd, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

As are many of the other digital sites out there, our site is creating a Mega Kit with all proceeds to be donated to the Red Cross Hurricane Relief fund.  There is even a possibility that our gift may be matched because of a corporate matching program at a spouse’s employer, but we’ll give more details on that if it happens.  At this point, though, here are a few peeks at the pieces that we’ve put together so far for the kit…and there are more to come!
Justthebeginning

This is just what we’ve done so far and a quickly put together preview.  There’s lots more great stuff coming up, too.  We hope to have it ready for sale at the latest by next Friday..so watch for an update.

Thanks to our CTM, sand_gal, for a great color palette to work with…and this great blinkie, too!  Feel free to grab it and show it off wherever you want to help us promote the New Beginnings Kit for the victims of Hurricane Katrina!

Now I’m the guilty one…

September 1st, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

Guilty of blog neglect, that is.  I was so busy with the sale, then school started and now the site is growing so fast, I just have a hard time fitting everything in.  But, I’m making myself commit to at least one small update daily, so here is today’s.

What is on everyone’s mind?  Hurricane Katrina…it is unbelievable.  I don’t watch alot of TV so I haven’t seen that many photos, but the girls in my Mothers of Multiples club were talking about a photo on the newspaper of a grandmother and her twin grandbabies.  She had both babies in one car seat and I believe they said she was sitting on an overpass with them…someone else said they hadn’t eaten in like two days.  I can’t imagine how powerless she has to feel not being able to do anything for them.  These are little babies, like 3 months old!  It is simply unimaginable, what these people are going through.  I actually showed my kids some of the photos I found online and tried to explain to them what happened and how all of these people lost their homes, their clothes, their food, their toys…  So, they’ve agreed to pick out some of their toys and clothes to send to the kids who need them.  I’m so proud of them.  I really didn’t ask them to do it…I just told them what had happened and asked what they thought we could do.  I am amazed at how smart and generous they are and so proud of them.  One of the Mothers of Multis members has volunteered to get all of our donations to a church that is sending stuff down, so over the weekend, we’ll get some stuff gathered up and ready to go.  May God bless these people and take care of them…what a horrible place to be right now.

Okay, I felt like I had to talk about that before I could move on to trivial things like my life.  I mean, really, we are such a small part of such a big picture that I can’t imagine wasting anyone’s time with the small details of my life when there are so many things that are so much more important to think about.  So, out of respect for the victims of this horrible disaster, I’ll close this post by asking God to bless them and watch over them and give the people in charge the wisdom and resources to make good decisions and get them all back to living safe and healthy lives with their families as soon as possible.

Tomorrow, back to life as I know it here at the ranch.  Good night.
