What is it about music?

June 29th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

It is just so amazing to me how I can hear a song and literally feel memories come back to me in waves…I mean, almost like I’m where I was back when the song was popular, does that make sense?  I have a Yahoo! station that is customized to me and I have a rather eclectic mix on it, but one song that always makes me smile is "Dance with Me"…I don’t even know who sings it but it’s pretty old.  I still remember, though, that when that song was popular, my sister had her first boyfriend, this big, tall guy named Mike.  He’d come to our house and I can remember him swinging me around and dancing with me when this song was on….there are 8 years difference between me and my sister, so I was about 5 or 6 at the time, but I can still feel the happiness that that brought me back then.  Isn’t that funny?  Maybe it’s because I do love music so much…or does it affect everyone that way?

Okay, gotta show you the kit preview.  "Greet the Day" is finally finished and I’m getting it ready for the store.  It should be available tomorrow.  It’s an awesome kit and has some great wordart…some of it is just words that can even be made into brushes, some is phrases, some is overlays for the twill tapes included in the kit.  Anyway, I just love it.  Here’s the kit:
Kmoor_greettheday_lrg
and the word art…
Kmoor_greettheday2_lrg

Some of the things in the preview are not to scale and are actually larger, relative to the backgrounds, than they look here.  Oh, and if you’re wondering what those funny looking things are that look like sleeveless shirts, kinda sorta, they’re pockets.  You can stitch, staple or tack them onto your background and tuck things into them.  I plan to use one in a layout soon so you can see what I mean, but I’m pooped and I have a headache tonight so it will have to wait.

I’ll also be having Miss Bailey draw a name from the hat for the photo contest winner in the morning.  So far, I only have three people who’ve sent photos…Debi, Kait & Jamie.  So, you each have a 33% chance of winning…not bad odds, huh?

Well, nite, all!  I’ll send out an ad when the new kit is available.  Sleep well…I know I will!

On a roll…

June 29th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I went to several crops yesterday (I’m just loving meeting other scrappers!) and was working on a kit at the same time, so everything just kind of fell together at the Newbie Simple Inspiration Crop at SBB last night.  I found this quote yesterday and wanted to use it with this pic, but just didn’t quite know how.  Here’s what I came up with:

These papers are from a kit I’m working on and hope to get finished today.  I love the way this came out.

Thanks for humoring me with showing off these layouts…have a great day!

It’s amazing how many customers you get

June 28th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

when you give away a freebie, LOL!  I put out a notice that I was giving out a free mini kit to all new customers and, wow, did I get a few new customers.  Of course, nobody bought anything, yet, but hey…maybe they’ll like the freebie and come back for more.  Regardless, maybe I’ll at least see a few LOs done with the kit in a gallery somewhere.  I didn’t do a kit preview, but here’s a LO I did with it…
Baileysweet

I enjoyed making it and I hope someone will enjoy using it.  I’m trying to look at this as less of a career opportunity and more of a hobby.  I mean, let’s face it…there are so darn many of us doing this now that very few of us can hope to make much money at it.  That’s why it’s back to school for me this Fall…hopefully, I’ll be able to continue to design some, too, but I definitely have to stay on track for a long-term career.  I hope to either work for myself or go back to work after my kiddos go to school.  It’s tough being a one income family.

Okay, enough about that.  We’ve had a pretty good day and I have a kit to finish, so I’m off.  If you like the LO, go sign up at my shop and you’ll get the freebie!

Have a nice night!

Love this photo

June 27th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I obviously did some recoloring, but I just love this photo.  Not quite sure how I’ll scrap it because most of my kits are so bright, but I’ll think of something.  Just wanted to share my beautiful girl…

Layout I did today…

June 25th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I’m truly not sure if I’ve ever done a layout with someone else’s kit, but I did today.  My son is a huge John Deere fan and Shabby Princess’s Two Soon kit was just so perfect for John Deere photos, I downloaded it and did this layout today:
Caseysplo

Thanks, SP, for the perfect kit for these pics!  I guess I could have made my own, but this one had everything I needed and it’s kinda fun to work with someone else’s stuff…

Off to a birthday party this afternoon, so I probably won’t get much done.  I think I’m going to take a nap if my son will go to sleep – he fights naps horribly!  But, if he doesn’t get one, he’s a little wild man and with a party tonight, I just can’t handle that.

Maybe I’ll get a little scrapping time tonight ’cause I really want to do something with the mudbugs shots…that is going to be an incredibly fun layout to do.

Have a great Saturday!

What a fun day!

June 25th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

We had such a fun time today!  We took all the kiddos down to the creek and they had a blast!  I can’t wait to scrap these photos, but here’s one that shows exactly how much fun they had:
Mudbugs

How fun is that?  We took the baby down there, too, and found a nice shady spot for her.  I think she was pretty content…
Claire

Isn’t that just adorable?  She’s five weeks old and a very good baby.

On a scrapbooking note, my store officially opened, today.  I still have some work to do, but I had a couple of kits I really wanted to get out there for sale, so I just did it.  I want to revamp my site and I’m probably going to close my forums (but I have another project on tap) so things will continue to change over there, but I’m putting previews of all my new stuff here when it’s finished.

Okay, I need more coffee…have a great weekend!  More later…

The store is open!

June 24th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

I’ve added a link here to my store, which is now open with a few kits available, three of which are exclusive to my shop.  Here they are:

Kmo_nsset

Kmoor_hatset_5

Kmoor_chiliflowers_1

I’m not quite ready for a grand opening, but the store is open and these items are available for purchase.  I’m debating on sending through an ad later, but I really wanted someone to buy something from the shop first so that I’d know everything worked okay.  I’ve tried it myself and it worked fine, but I’d just feel better if I heard that from a real customer, LOL.

Okay, enough about my store, now…I’m just so excited to finally have it done!  Next project is overhaulin’ my website…probably next week.

Have a great Friday!

Fun day today

June 24th, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

We’re having company today.  A good friend that I actually met on the web is bringing her daughter, who is exactly three weeks younger than my twins, and her new baby over today for some fun at the creek.  You’re sure to find some pics, later!

Oh, and DebiH, I loved your unkymood so much I had to get my own!

Finally finished this kit!

June 22nd, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

When I get started on something I really love, I just can’t stop, LOL!  This thing is huge (213 mb!)…you can’t even really see everything in this preview, but I’ll have more sample images available in the store when it’s ready for purchase…oh, and the alpha is included in the set.  Here’s the preview:

Kmoor_chiliflowers

I’m loving it!  Now I have to do some more layouts to show it off.  I’m going to try to get everything done by Friday for ad day…this will actually be the only completely new set in the store, but the Page Sets from Recycled Hat and New Sundress will also be available there exclusively.  Those two collections are still available in my store at Scrapbook-Elements.

Thanks for peeking!

Welcome, Baby Riley!

June 21st, 2005 by simplescrapskathy

My niece had her baby yesterday and we went to see him tonight.  I love new babies…of course, holding him makes we want another one, but it just isn’t doable at this point.  Nonetheless, I am so happy for Sarah and her husband, Jesse.  They’ve been so looking forward to this arrival and we’re so glad they were able to re-relocated back here where they belong.  She actually used the same OB that delivered my twins and she loved him as much as I did…he’s an awesome doc and an overall nice guy, too.  Casey & Bailey just loved Baby Riley (well, especially Bailey) as you can see in this photo.

Baileyandriley

We also got to see my nephew and his wife at the hospital.  He’s my sister’s son…she has two and all of them live a couple of hours away, so we don’t see them as often as we should.  Sarah and Jesse just happened to end up moving about an hour away from us, so we see them a bit more and with the new baby, we’ll probably see them even more for a while.  I designed her shower invitation with some graphics from my Boys Love Bugs set that I recolored just for the occasion.  I’m planning to do an entire set and use it for his birth announcements which I have the honor of making.  I’ll call it The Riley Collection, though it will probably be a page set, not an entire collection like some I’ve done.  So, look for it within the next few weeks because those announcements will need to be done by then.  Here’s a peek at the invite graphics:

Invite_1

The backgrounds are actually from the Milkshake Sleepytown Page Set, but the bugs and dragonflies are from the Boys Love Bugs Page Set.  I loved the way this turned out, so I thought I’d use the color combo in a set.  It may be better for Spring photos, but surely someone still has a few of those laying around that need to be scrapped.  Oh, and obviously I changed the text on the invite to remove her full name and location…but you get the idea, anyway.

Okay, I’m off to bed…oh, and I worked on the new kit in the banner today.  I named it: Red Hot Chili Flowers, LOL.  Well, at least it’s original.

More to come tomorrow…
